Dramatic Crisis in the Worldwide Automotive Industry is Getting More Serious - Sudden Decrease of Orders Forces UKM to Lay-offs.
As latest published sales figures have shown, the situation on the international automotive markets has worsened during January and February. UKM, too, is feeling the impact. Since early fall 2008, the customers' demands have dramatically decreased. At this point it is not to foresee when the amount of orders will increase again. According to general estimations, the first half of 2009 should be even weaker than the second of 2008. UKM has to assume that the situation may get a little better no sooner than by end of 2009.

Start for Innovative Piston-pin Production Line. Mayor Olaf Raschke Visits UKM Site in Meissen.
In the presence of Mayor Olaf Raschke a new, state of the art production line was opened today at the UKM production site in Meissen. To make the project happen one of the heritage-protected buildings had to be refurbished in 2008. This was necessary to fulfill the requirements for the state of the art machines.
