Pinions

The pinion transfers the rotary motion of the starter's armature shaft to the flywheel of the crankshaft, and this causes the engine to start.

Basic materials for the production of pinions are steel bars or steel wire on coils. They are first cut to length and then cold formed in a sequence of operations. After that they are machined on turning lathes. Through hardening the parts receive a surface quality that guarantees long lifetimes. UKM produces pinions of different design in very high quantities. This requires production processes that ensure high precision even for large batches.
